Pros head into Olympic, All-Star Breaks
Clarkson is tearing it up in the pros this year, with several players having career seasons for their teams. Here's a quick recap of former Clarkson players currently in the NHL and the AHL as they head into the Olympic and All-Star Break:
Chris Clark, RW, Washington Capitals – The right-winger already has a career high in goals (11), and is on pace to set career marks in assists, points, and +/-. He has a goal and an assist in the past week for the Caps.
Erik Cole, LW, Carolina Hurricanes – Erik had his third career hat trick Tuesday night in a 8-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. He currently has 20 goals and 26 assists for the first place Hurricanes as he prepares for his Olympic debut. The Hurricanes became only the sixth team ever to win 13 games in a single month.
Craig Conroy, C, Los Angeles Kings – Craig has 18 goals and 35 assists in his first season with the Kings, including four points in his last three games. His +18 rating currently has him tied for 15th in the NHL. He too will be in Turin for his first Olympic games later this month.
Randy Jones, D, Philadelphia Flyers – Called back up to the Flyers from the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL, Randy is looking to solidify his spot in the show. Since being recalled he’s tallied four assists in twelve games for a struggling Flyers squad. He has yet to score his first NHL goal.
Todd Marchant, C, Anaheim Mighty Ducks – Todd currently has a 7-17-24 line for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks who picked him up from Columbus through the waiver wire In November. He assisted on Scott Neidermayer’s game winning goal in OT on Monday.
Willie Mitchell, D, Minnesota Wild – A quick glance at the score sheet might not say much about Willie who has two goals and four assists this year for the Wild. But a deeper look show a +13 skater rating, good for second on the team, and one of only three D-Men with a positive rating. He made his fantasy teams happy last week when he scored himself 17 penalty minutes, ten minutes for the misconduct, five minutes for the fight, plus the bonus two minute instigator penalty.
Todd White, C, Minnesota Wild – Todd has four goals and one assist in the past week. His 16-13-29 line places him 4th in scoring on the Wild.
In case you missed it, with the Bruins goaltending woes a couple weeks ago, the Providence Bruins called up Dustin Traylen from Trenton of the ECHL and got the start. He made 35 saves in a loss, and was promptly sent back down once the Bruins got everything squared away.
Heading into the AHL All-Star Break, Kent Huskins has three goals and eleven assists for the Portland Pirates.

Hugo Belanger '93 is 3rd on the United Hockey League's scoring list (19-45=64). Belanger plays for the Adirondack (Glens Falls, NY) Frostbite, who I suspect will retire his #91 when his career's over.
