Clarkson Men Remain Undefeated; Women Salvage Tie
Clarkson defeated Providence 6-1 Friday night in Providence to bump their record to 3 and 0. Clarkson jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back by scoring two empty net goals late in the third. Chris D'Alvise had the game winner and added shorthanded goal. Matt Curley scored his first goal since his freshman season to open the scoring. Steve Zalewski scored twice and David Cayer scored his third goal of the season. David Leggio made 34 saves in a strong winning effort.
Saturday night Clarkson came back from two, one goal deficits to tie the UMass Minutemen 3-3. David Cayer, Nick Dodge and Tim Marks scored goals for the Knights, for Marks it was his first collegiate goal and it was the game tying goal. David Leggio made 31 saves.
In Erie, Pennsylvania, the women's team lost 5-2 to Mercyhurst Friday night. Britney Selina and Katie Morrison scored the Knights goals, Kira Hurley made 36 saves in the loss.
Saturday the women tied the Lakers 3-3 Katie Morrison scored twice and Ashley Shaidle had the game tying goal in the third period. Kira Hurley posted 39 saves.
