Two New Recruits plus Stanley's Cup

Clarkson has announced two new recruits for the 2008 season. Michael Kosziwka joins the team out of the OPJHL where he racked up 62 points, 28 goals and 34 assists. He scored 17 goals on the PP as well. He also had 72 PIM, meaning we might have another guy out there who is willing to play physical to keep the opposing team in-line when they're being stupid. In addition, Lauri Tuohimaa, a foward from Finland joins to Golden Knights. Haven't been able to pull any stats on Lauri, but he's already drawing the inevitable comparison's to Max Kolu, which certainly isn't a bad thing. A very solid recruiting class this year.

In other news, hockey iss still being played in some places, for this really excellent trophy too. Well a year back we all got very excited for one Erik Cole who hoisted this shiny piece of metal last year with the Carolina Hurricanes. But the Clarkson fanbase has been awfully quiet despite the fact that not one, but TWO former Golden Knights are fighting for the cup with the Anaheim Ducks as they face the Ottawa Senators. Todd Marchant, who played with the Golden Knights from 1991-1993 and Kent Huskins who was a member from 1997-2001 are trying to make it three Clarkson players in the last two years to lift the trophy. Keep an eye out for them rhtough the playoffs.

2007-2008 Schedule Released

The athletic department released the schedule for the 2007 - 2008 season today.

Clarkson looks to stay competitive on the PWR scene by playing seven teams from last years NCAA tourney.

The season opens with an exhibition at Cheel against Acadia, followed by a rematch of last years heartbreaking NCAA loss against UMass. The following weekend opens ECAC play with a home and home series against Saint Lawrence. However ECAC play does not begin until Saturday at Cheel as the Friday game at Canton is a non-conference affair. The tough October ends with a trip to Sault St. Marie to take on the LSSU Lakers for a pair of games.

Saint Cloud State comes to Cheel on Thanksgiving weekend for a pair of games, followed up with a trip to Canton to take on SLU in ECAC play.

Clarkson will travel to Estero, Florida for the annual Florida College Classic and take on the Maine Black Bears in the first round. This game will match up Clarkson against every team from 2006's East regional. The Knights will take on either Cornell or UMass Lowell in the second round.

Returning home the following week the Knights take on national runner-up Boston College in Jerry York's first visit to Cheel since 1999.

The Knights close out non-conference play on February 1st and 2nd with a trip to Colorado College.

The Knights play 17 home games with 10 coming in the first semester and a mere 6 league home games after the break.
