Post Season Beginings and Regular Season Endings

As a new week begins the men's and women's hockey team find themselves in different, yet similar positions.

The women's team finished up this weekend a tie and a loss at Dartmouth and Harvard respectively. With that the women finished the regular season with a 16-12-6 record and finished in 7th place in the ECAC. Thus earning a first round playoff trip to Canton to take on the Skating Saints of Saint Lawrence. Clarkson split with SLU this season dropping a 2-1 contest at Appleton and taking a 2-1 victory at Cheel. Though the Knights do not have a favorable record against the Saints, all but one game, a 5-0 loss at Cheel two years ago, has been decided by 2 goals or less. The seventh seeded Knights may be underdogs in this series, but one would not be surprised if the Knights were able to take 2 of 3 from the Saints.

On the men's side the Knights are looking to lock up home ice for the first round of the ECAC Playoffs. The men travel to the Capital District to take on RPI and Union. Clarkson is currently tied with the Dutchmen for 8th place in the league. Regardless of the outcome of Friday's game the winner of the Clarkson Union game will finish ahead of the loser and take home ice. Messa Rink has not been kind to the Knights as they have not had a regular season win in Schenectady since January 13, 2001. The Knights have won two post season series at Messa in that time frame.
