Women Tie Princeton ; Men Fall to USA

The Clarkson women's hockey team took 3 points on the road with a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon in Princeton, New Jersey. Ashley Shaidle scored her third goal of the season on a delayed penalty call in the first period. Carlee Eusepi and Katie Morrison assisted. Princeton tied things up in the second, and that's how it ended. Kira Hurley made 23 saves. The Knights are now 3-3-2 and are at home against Harvard and Dartmouth next weekend.

The men's team lost to the USNPDT-U18's, 6-2, Saturday night in a contest that featured 52 penalty minutes, all on minor penalties. The USA scored the first four goals of the contest, Clarkson rallied back late in the first with goals from Shawn Weller and Shea Guthrie, but Clarkson could not find the net after the first period and the USA added on two more goals. Freshman Matt Smith got the start in net, but was replaced by David Leggio in the second. Smith finished with eight saves and Leggio ended up with eight saves as well. Clarkson travels to Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend to open their ECACHL season.
