How do you follow up a bad week-end? Invite the #1 team to Potsdam.

Knights split the week-end. 6-4 over RIT, and a 4-3 loss to Niagara. Discipline and defense. Not much else to say. Outshot over the week-end 79-51 and both goalies hung out to dry.

Good:
Karpowich named ECAC Rookie of the Week.
Offense - (D'Alvise, DeFazio, Tuohimma, the freshmen, etc all contributed).
Specialty teams - 2/8 on the PP, 12/14 PK.
Knights get one win?

Bad:
Defense - 8 goals, 79 shots!
Discipline - 57 minutes in penalties, D'Alvise out for Friday's game with a DQ called at the end of the game.
Knights get one win?

Ugly:
Cramps.
RIT fans believing SLUt is better than Clarkson.
Colorado College up next...#1 in the country, 9-0-1 against Clarkson all-time.

Of course CC is also ranked #7 in this poll. We can only hope they use some during pre-game. Brings a new meaning to "Fire up the Bus!"

Note: "Good, Bad, (and Ugly)" used without permission from vicb.

Women in the Hunt

If you haven't been watching, the Clarkson Women have quietly been putting together an amazing season and are in the hunt for an at-large berth for the NCAA Tournament. The #9 Knights enter the final weekend of ECACHL play alone in 3rd place. The knights need a single point to secure home ice in the opening round of the ECACHL tournament.

While the women are trying to take care of business against Quinnipiac and Princeton this weekend, we'll be scoreboard watching. Clarkson stands in 9th place in the Pairwise Rankings just out of the final at-large spot currently occupied by Connecticut by the slimmest of margins.

Britney Selina is leading the Knights in scoring. Her 41 points are good enough for 9th in the country. Genevieve Lavoie and Melissa Waldie are also above the point per game mark with leading goal-scorer Marie-Jo Gaudet on the cusp. Clarkson's freshman goaltending duo of Lauren Dahm and Eve Grandmont-Berube are ranked #3 and #7 in the NCAA in goaltending combining for a GAA of less than 1.5 GAA.

Clarkson lost in Princeton 3-2 and defeated Quinnipiac 3-1 early in the season.

Every game is big from here on out. If you're Potsdam, it's time to get to the arena and support your Knights. Friday at 7:00, Saturday at 4:00!

Conroy Returns to Calgary

Former Clarkson Golden Knight Craig Conroy was traded by the Los Angeles Kings to the Calgary Flames earlier this evening for Jamie Lundmark and two draft picks. Conroy returns to a Calgary team that he once captained. He also helped lead the Flames to to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2004. We wouldn't be surprised to see him in a line with Jerome Iginla whom have been a productive tandem in the past.
